Oncology is the branch of medicine with a focus on cancer. An oncologist is a trained pediatric cancer statisticsmedical doctor who practices oncology. Working with patients throughout treatment and , an oncologist may be involved in diagnosing cancer, treatment plans and follow up.

Specializing in working with children, a pediatric oncologist is qualified and experienced in working with children and teens. According to the Healthy Children’s website, a pediatric oncology has 4 years of medical school training, 3 years of residency training in pediatrics , at least 3 additional years of fellowship training in pediatric oncology, and certification from the Board of Pediatrics. Pediatric oncologists are also trained to meet the unique and sensitive needs of a child.
