On behalf of my family, Board of Directors and Foundation, I wanted to let you know we have elected to postpone our annual NEGU Gala – A Celebration of Courageous Smiles, which was scheduled for this Saturday, March 14, 2020. We are deeply committed to our loving NEGU community, many of whom were expected to attend Saturday’s highly anticipated Gala as Courageous Kids, families, guests, sponsors, and honorees. As such, we are taking the recent government/state recommendations and warnings about the Coronavirus very seriously and have elected to reschedule our largest fundraiser of the year in an effort to prioritize the safety and health of everyone involved.
This decision was not made easily, and we are incredibly disappointed to be making this change so close to the event. However, we are taking this course of action, which has been informed by the recommendations issued by the CDC and the California Public Health Department, and following consultation with Board members, external stakeholders, and staff. It feels like the reasonable and responsible thing to do. I’m confident you will agree with us.
Rest assured, we will never stop running towards kids fighting cancer because they need us now more than ever. These innocent kids, Super Sibs and parents are still fighting. As you may know, 46 kids are diagnosed with cancer each day in America. Every one of these kids has a name, a family, a story and deserves our love and support.
While we wait to secure the new date, I’m asking that you still consider helping us raise essential funds now so we can continue to help these innocent kids and families impacted by childhood cancer! The incredibly gracious donor who had offered us matching funds during the Gala has let us know they are still willing to match dollar for dollar, up to $100,000, all donations received through Sunday, 3/15 at midnight. If you can, please use the link below to offer your best gift so we can continue to spread hope, joy and love to these kids fighting in the midst of the recent news. These families, now more than ever, need to know they are not alone and need to be encouraged to NEVER EVER GIVE UP!
