Volunteer Spotlight
May 6, 2022
When we asked Jenn if we could spotlight her in this month’s volunteer newsletter, she literally jumped with excitement. To know Jenn is love her and all her exuberance! Jenn, her husband Andrew, and her two kids, Cailyn and Logan have lived in Rancho Santa Margarita, CA for almost 19 years. When Jenn is not volunteering for the foundation, she likes to read, hike and especially loves being at the beach.
Jenn’s kids attended Melinda Heights Elementary School, where Jessie also went to school. Jenn recalls that she was always involved in the toy drives Melinda Heights hosted for us, and even planned a smaller toy drive for us during Teacher Appreciation Week in 2017. One of her earliest volunteer experiences was helping JRF staff member, Jana address and send out Care Cards to Courageous Kids.
Jenn recalls one of her most memorable experiences was helping with Courageous Families at Gala. “I spent almost the entire night holding a SuperSib so one of the parents could enjoy the gala with their Courageous Kid”. Each year since, she has helped Jana care for the Courageous Families at our events.
Not only does Jenn help with Care Cards, events, and toy drives, but she also loves helping at our Mobile JoyFactory! Recently, Jenn traveled with the team and comments, “Going to Austin was so fun and enjoyable, and I made some wonderful new friends!”
When asked for any additional comments, Jenn quickly replied, “I love the way I feel when I am in the JoyFactory! I get outside myself and can spread a little joy to these kids fighting cancer. And I have made some wonderful friends among the other volunteers! I enjoy all the things I get to do to spread joy, but I especially LOVE to see pictures of the kids’ smiles when they open their care cards. I am inspired by the Courageous Kids and their parents as they Never Ever Give Up!!” Jenn, you and your joy inspire all of us and we are so happy you are part of the NEGU family!
