Nate began volunteering at the annual NEGU Gala in the spring of 2013. He graduated Mission Viejo High School in 2015, was apart of the NEGU club there, and a member of the Jessie Rees Foundation Junior Board. In the Fall, Nate will be attending Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff, AZ.

Question: How did you first hear about Jessie and her story?

Answer: I first heard about Jessie when my mom and I were trying to figure out different ways we could help out the community. We had heard about Jessie from Saddleback Church and over Facebook. We were curious about what she was doing and then we decided to get involved.

Q: What duties have you had while volunteering at the Jessie Rees Foundation?

A: I was involved with the foundation’s junior board, which was helping out other teenagers from high school get involved. I’ve helped out with the annual Gala and the NEGU Golf Tournament. I also help out my mom, Kristy Chuhaloff, who is in charge of community engagement at the foundation, with shipping, stuffing JoyJars, and researching toys that can be placed in JoyJars.

Q: If you could choose a crayon color to describe yourself, what would it be?

A: I would chose Orange, because it’s bright, fun, and happy!

Q: If you were on an island and could only bring 3 items, what would they be?

A: I would bring my laptop, camera, and golf clubs so I would have something to do.

Q: What’s a favorite memory of yours while volunteering at the foundation?

A: My favorite memory was volunteering at the annual Gala event. Being able to help out and create that special night for everyone was a lot of fun.

Q: If you could be a superhero, what would you want your superpowers to be?

A: I would definitely want the power to fly, because I love to travel!

Q: Would you rather (Jessie loved these!)… only be able to whisper or only be able to shout for the rest of your life?

A: I would want to whisper, because it would probably get annoying to shout all the time.
