It was shortly after Kevin was diagnosed with stage IV head and neck cancer when he stumbled upon Jessie’s NEGU message and support page for cancer fighters. Jessie’s amazing spirit and powerful motto to Never Ever Give Up resonated strongly with Kevin as he understood what it meant to be living in the fight for your life. Jessie’s approach to life, even in the face of something devastating like cancer, inspired Kevin to embrace his own NEGU spirit and desire to help others fighting cancer.
In search for a way to help and to give back, Kevin founded a small bike team, the Motley Crew, which recently joined into the single biggest fundraising event in British Columbia, Canada--the Ride to Conquer Cancer, benefiting the BC Cancer Foundation.The Motley Crew team is a force to be reckoned with as they have collectively raised over $55,000 in 2 years for cancer research! To-date, the Ride to Conquer Cancer has eclipsed over $50 million for cancer research.
The Motley Crew team continues to use Jessie’s NEGU message as support and encouragement during their rides. With each jersey custom designed with a NEGU logo, every member is reminded that they can never ever give up. Kevin tells us, “NEGU has become my motto and I will do everything in my power to help others with cancer, raise awareness in our community and gather funds to help us with all aspects of research, treatment, care, education, prevention and survivorship”
The Motley Crew team just finished their 2013 ride and their 2014 fundraising efforts are in full swing! Their goal–double the $55,000 they have raised!!
