Stand Up to Cancer (SU2C) and the St. Baldrick’s Foundation made the long-anticipated announcement of their “Dream Team” researchers to receive a 14.5 million dollar grant for pediatric cancer research. After a long process of proposal reviews, the partnered organizations announced that they have chosen “Immunogenomics to Create New Therapies for High-Risk Childhood Cancers” led by Drs. John M. Maris, director of the Center for Childhood Cancer Research at The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, and Crystal L. Mackall, chief of the Pediatric Oncology Branch of the National Cancer Institute (NCI) in Bethesda, Maryland.
According to the St. Baldrick’s website, this dream team will begin research to find cures for childhood cancers–some of the most difficult to cure including high-risk neuroblastoma, sarcomas and brain tumors.
