Sienna is an adorable three-year-old girl who happens to have an extra chromosome. On August 28, 2018 she was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia, a type of cancer of the blood and bone marrow with excess immature white blood cells. Since September 2018, she has undergone 7 procedures and has received high-doses of continuous chemotherapy treatment at Children’s Hospital Orange County to obtain optimal results for remission and long-term health.

This season has been very difficult on Sienna’s family emotionally, physically and financially due to the long hospital stays, family separations, missed work and all the other overwhelming costs associated with medical expenses. Sienna’s parents, Rubi and Luis Antonio also have a 4 year old son named, Mateo, who has been unable to see his sister during her treatment due to the restricted hospital visitor policies during flu season, which is January through April.

Through the pain, challenges and disappointments that Sienna’s family has faced in their fight against cancer, her family has learned to always believe in hope and to Never Ever Give Up!

Jessie’s JoyJars® have not only brought Sienna joy, but have also brought her brother joy too. Her mom says, “We look forward to them every time we receive one. The Jessie Rees Foundation has helped our family from the very beginning of this journey, in the emotional, physical and financial sense. We are so grateful to have participated in the 25 days of Giving Campaign and to walk through CHOC hospital feeling Jessie’s love.”
