BALTIMORE – [ABC2News]  Several Olympic swimmers were on hand at Johns Hopkins Children’s Center Friday. The athletes were working with the Jessie Rees Foundation, delivering Joy Jars to patients at the hospital. Rees was a girl with inoperable brain cancer. She and her family set up the foundation to help kids dealing with cancer and other terminal illnesses. Swimmer Kaitlin Sandeno says she feels lucky to be a part of the mission.
“Jessie’s mission was to inspire, and spread hope… When you go into the rooms, it’s priceless,” Sandeo said.
As for the kids, they were all happy to receive their Joy Jars — filled with toys and other comforting items. Though, some of them seem more excited to check out the olympians’ gold medals.
