PAY IT FORWARD FOR LUKE
3-year old Luke knows just WHAT KIDS NEED TO HELP THEM FIGHT CANCER--courage, strength and a lots of support from others. When Luke was diagnosed with ALL (Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia) earlier this year, he had a hard time with hospital stays and his difficult 
treatments. One day, after a long stay at the hospital, Luke came home to special package at his doorstep–It was a JoyJar! Luke and his family were so touched by this gift of joy and encouragement from another family who knew just what they were going through. Wanting to give that same support to other families in need, Luke and his family set out to find ways to help kids in treatment at his hospital.
It didn’t take long before young Luke got to work on his special projects to help others kids. Soon, LUKE WAS NAMED AN OFFICIAL AMBASSADOR for Knots of Love at the Children’s Hospital of Pittsburg of UPMC. In his new, very important role, Luke will be delivering homemade crocheted hats and caps to kids in treatment. All of Luke’s deliveries will be made from his favorite shopping cart. with which he can be seen sporting through the hallways of the hospital floor.
One of Luke’s most difficult treatments is port accessing. Having to take his shirt off for this treatment creates a great deal of anxiety for Luke; leaving him in tears every time. Needing a solution, Luke and his mom created a ‘SHIRT WITH A ZIPPER’ which allows Luke to continue his treatments with his shirt on. Knowing there are probably lots of other kids who have that same experience of anxiety during procedures, Luke and his mom decided to make shirts for other kids that Luke would see at clinic. To date, Luke has passed out over 30 SHIRTS WITH PLANS FOR 100 MORE!
