The Jessie Rees Foundation’s 1st Annual NEGU Gala was an amazing event. A night of dining, drinks, dancing and fun–and more importantly, a night to honor and and bring awareness to the thousands of kids fighting cancer and our heros in Heaven with Jessie.
Alongside the event’s entertainment and awards, the NEGU Gala was to be decorated with all things special to Jessie, in her loving memory. Jessie had a special love for puppies. Especially so during her fighting with cancer, as her own puppy Moe provided her so much unconditional love, care and support. As an extension of Jessie’s love for others and love for puppies, It was so fitting that one lucky family would take home from the NEGU Gala an adorable puppy named—–NEGU.
NEGU‘s soon-to-be new family arrived to to the 2012 NEGU Gala, not knowing that they would be leaving with an amazing blessing and a new family member. But when it came time for NEGU to be selected by a family, the Fellows family fell in love immediately and knew he belonged with them.
It’s been a year since NEGU went home to join the Fellows. NEGU is all grown up now. His family tells us that he has been a blessing to their family in so many ways. NEGU has been a great source of support and safety for his family. NEGU‘s family tells us that he is a sweet-tempered, caring dog with a huge heart and a reminder of Jessie and her family. NEGU is now training as a service dog, working with children with special needs. Soon NEGU will be out in his community, spreading joy and love to children and encouraging them to NEGU-Never Ever Give up, just as Jessie did.
