12-year-old Emma was diagnosed with Rhabdomyosarcoma in 2017. Art, soccer, swimming, biking and playing with her cousins are some of her favorite things to do. Emma’s mom Amber told the Jessie Rees Foundation, “Emma brings us such joy. She’s so thoughtful, loving and shows so much empathy! She loves school and thrives on focusing to make sure her school work is done properly! She enjoys spending time with her family and making sure everyone feels how much love she feels for them.”

Amber said, “Through Emma’s journey, we have stayed as positive as we can be. On days that we get scared or feel overwhelmed we always say to one another, ‘One day at a time.’” NEGU to Emma and her family means –  “Never give up means everything to us. We always know to look forward instead of back and to tell one another that we love each other so much no matter what happens!”

Emma was so excited to receive the JoyJar in the mail, it “made her feel happy and that someone knew exactly how she was feeling in days she felt sad or not feeling well. It brings us together to create and play and talk about our day! It also makes us think about how wonderful Jessie was to create such a happy gift for children to share with their families!”
