Meet our NEGU superhero fighter Matthew! Matthew is 15 months old and is courageously fighting a high grade glioma brain tumor. Matthew is a hero and inspiration to so many. His mom tells us that he is the happiest kid you will ever meet. He is full of life and positive energy. Matthew and his family do not let cancer define him, but rather choose to focus on his amazing smiles, love and laughter. Matthew’s motto–Defined By God-Not Cancer. Having undergone 7 surgeries and 5 rounds of chemotherapy, Matthew’s mom also tells us that he is the only baby born with this type of brain cancer who has survived.
Matthew’s mom tells us that NEGU has helped them through their journey to realize they are not alone. It gives them hope and keeps them motivated.
Matthew loves Superheros, playing with his sister and brother, and LOVES his nurses. His favorite colors are red and blue.
“So many people have touched our lives through this journey. When Matthew was diagnosed at 4 days old, you hear the word cancer and you never think that anything positive could come of such a terrible disease. But God is bigger than any cancer, and He has used this part of our lives in ways we would have never dreamed of. The outpouring that we have received from people throughout the world, in 8 countries, in every state is beyond anything we deserve. This journey is the most humbling thing we have ever experienced. It has put life into perspective and made me appreciate the little things in life with not only Matthew, but my other kids. I don’t feel deserving of the outpouring of love that God has blessed us with”- Matthew’s Mom
