There are some incredible people today working in hospitals around the world. For many, working in a hospital with children is not just a job—Rather their role as a nurse becomes part of their life, as they put their whole hearts into caring for children, who many times become part of their “extended family”. Nurses and child life specialists are so special to kids in treatment–they love them, they care for them, they help them through their difficult days and celebrate with them on their better days. We want the opportunity to recognize the “heart work” these individuals put into their jobs every day. For that reason, we are now honoring our “NEGU Nurses and Child Life Specialists”.

NEGU Nurse StaceyThis week, we are honored to introduce our NEGU community to Stacey! Stacey is currently  a nurse at Denver Hospice where she puts her whole heart into caring for her patients. Stacey is known to lift spirits and brings joy to so many. However, Stacey’s biggest fan isn’t at the hospital where she works. Rather, the young cancer fighter who loves Stacey the most is her 6 year old daughter Delaney.

Courageous 6-year old Delaney is fighting leukemia. As a mom and a nurse, Stacey always knows how to give the extra love Delaney needs, knows when a hand needs to be held and often steps in to help the medical staff during Delaney’s treatments (there is no one better than mom!)

Delaney’s daddy tells us, “When Delaney is feeling run down and just crummy, it is her favorite nurse Stacey that lifts her spirits and gets her to NEGU. We love her and our so blessed to have such a special nurse on our lives!”

Stacey’s family would like her to know that, “we love you and we are so grateful for you!” Stacey, we are also so grateful for you and your incredibly big heart. You make this world a better place. We NEGU for you!

NEGU community, please join us in sending this incredibly strong duo (Stacey and Delaney) lots of notes and encouragement and joy! We NEGU for Stacey and Delaney!
