NEGU Crew Leaves Lasting Family Experiences

July 24, 2024

In the world of professional sports, certain moments transcend the game, leaving a lasting impact on players and fans alike. For Kelyn Rowe, former star of the New England Revolution, one such moment occurred in 2015 when he founded the ‘NEGU Crew’. Motivated by a deep desire to support children battling cancer, Kelyn aimed to enhance the lives of Courageous Kids and their families fighting cancer,  offering them unforgettable experiences amidst their challenging journey.

Even after retiring, Kelyn’s legacy endures through the NEGU Crew, which continues to ‘cure bad days caused by cancer’ as he would say. On NEGU Crew game days, Courageous Families receive VIP treatment, including suite tickets to watch the game. Before kickoff, they step onto the field to watch warm-ups and meet their favorite New England Revolution players. After the final whistle, they return to the field, creating cherished memories they will treasure forever.

Courageous Andrew had the chance to be part of the NEGU Crew. His mom Michelle shared, “We had the best time ever.” Despite the heavy rain, the surprise of a private suite to watch the game thrilled Andrew and his family. They were excited to receive Revolution gear and cheer on the team. Andrew and his dad even appeared on the jumbotron, making the day even more amazing. “We felt so special all day,” Michelle said.

Another memorable moment came when Andrew met Revs player Andrew Farrell. Andrews’s mom, Michelle, recalled her favorite part of the day: “Farrell said “Hey, my name is Andrew too,’ which broke the ice. He handed Courageous Andrew a jersey to wear, and I don’t think Andrew’s smile could’ve gotten any bigger. He still talks about how cool that was.” Experiences like these, where the entire Courageous Family shared in the JOY, define the NEGU Crew.

Courageous Kid Ryan also had the opportunity to attend a Revolution game with his family this season. His mom Megan expressed her gratitude, saying, “I am thankful we have Ryan here to do this.” Including the entire family meant a lot to Megan. She shared how Ryan felt like a star after high-fiving the Revolution team. “Seeing Ryan and our other kids so happy was wonderful,” she said. Inspired by the experience, Ryan now wants to improve his soccer skills. After the game, he had a chance to run on the field and was amazed at its size.

Through these special moments, we witness joy and hope brought to those who need it most. Much like a pivotal moment in a game leading to victory, the experiences and family bonding at the Revolution NEGU Crew games create priceless memories. These cherished moments are ones that Courageous Families will continue to talk about and be thankful for long after the final whistle.
