My Jessie Journal: Happy 4th of July Sweet-Pea!!! I bet you get to see lots of amazing fireworks from Heaven. You always loved playing with sparklers and having fun on the 4th. I remember this pic like it was yesterday…you were just coming off all of your steroids and starting to feel stronger. We were heading into what the doctors called our “honeymoon” stage with you. A few months of less stress and more fun, which we sure did…we had a lot of fun Summer of 2011. The 4th was one of them…playing in the pool, eating S’mores and playing with sparklers. Today we are going out on Tanta’s boat for a cruise and to watch fireworks off the shore. Should be fun but we will all be thinking of you.
The past few days have been crazy Jess. Started out sharing your story at Nike Campus in Beaverton Oregon to the top 18 high school QB’s in the US. All of these guys have scholarships to the best collages around. They will someday be playing in the NFL. Then we got to bring some courageous kids out to meet the players. The players gave them JoyJars and NEGU PowerPacks. They all wore their “I’m A NEGU Kid” t-shirts. It was truly inspiring all because of you!!! One mom said afterwards, “for two hours today my son didn’t think about his cancer”…what a powerful statement Jess. We then went to Sacramento to kick off the month long NEGU For Kids California Tour at UC Davis Children’s Hospital. A few parents we met already knew about you, your JoyJars and NEGU. So amazing how far your reach has gone.
The best part of the trip was when a lady stopped in a Target and said, “Are you Jessie’s dad?” She noticed my NEGU shirt and thought she has seen us on Facebook. I love being “Jessie’s daddy”…they best title I could ever have.

As you know, tomorrow marks 18 months since I last kissed you. That is 547 days or 13,128 hours or 787,680 minutes…no matter how I look at it my heart still hurts. Some days it feels longer and
then there are others when it feels like yesterday. No matter how much it hurts Jess, I made you a promise to reach EVERY kid so we will press on for you and for them. Each day I have 46 more kids to find, encourage, support and send joy to. I wish I could get access to a database but that’s impossible so all of your Facebook Fans help me find more and more kids so we can encourage them to NEGU.Enjoy the fireworks!!!
Miss you tons….love you move…see you in a wink!
xoxo,
Daddy
