TeamNEGU Blog

My Jessie Journal:: Hi Sweet-Pea. Hope you had a great birthday. We really enjoyed seeing the new “Joy-Lab” at CHOC that we did in honor of you. You never liked giving blood but ended up trusting the team there, which now can see your joy and color everyday they work along with the 15,000 kids that visit that center annually. We tried to make a scary place fun, joyful and colorful….just like you! We saw some of your old team and traded tears. Seeing the nurses and doctors wearing your Never Ever Give Up lanyards fills my heart with hope. I’m been invited to speak to a group of nurses next month…I’m going to encourage them to NEGU too.Hope you liked the balloons we sent you. I know they reached you because they were filled with “love” not just helium=). We also had some great cake in celebration of you sweet-pea. You are now 14…wow! Your friends are getting ready to graduate from 8th grade and go into high school. You and Shaya would have been in HS together. That makes Shaya sad as she loves being your big sister. You would have also been on the swim team…varsity of course! Mommy and I decided to take the money we would have used to pay for swimming and give it to the coach to scholarship those that can’t afford it. We know you would be fully supportive of this. Your heart is so full of God’s love and care for others.

Your gala is coming up in a few weeks and we are planning everything we had talked about prior to our first gala…have fun, eat cake and celebrate kids. We will be awarding two Courageous Kids this year and three Compassion Kids. I get so encouraged by the strength of the kids fighting cancer and now their friends taking on acts of compassion to raise money or awareness for their friends. It’s so amazing!!!

Please keep a look out for the kids that joined you this week. One does every 4 hours…so sad. 46 new kids are told they get cancer each day. Now with our partnership with a global cancer network we have discovered there are over 500,000 kids fighting cancer around the world. We will “care” for them until there is a “cure” Jess…just like you wanted.

Jess, you inspire me everyday to make the world a little more joyful.

Miss you tons, love you more and will see you in a wink….I promise!

xoxo,
daddy
