My Jessie Journal:: Hi Sweet-Pea! Darn I miss you so much. Think about you 100’s of times a day Jessie Rees and Erik Reesand wonder how you are doing. Last weekend Mommy, Shaya and I went to see this move called Safe Haven. It was one of those “chick-flicks” but I loved it because it made me think of you. The story is about a family that lost their mommy to cancer. The daddy finds this new lady and they fall in love. The point that hit home for me was the very end when the daddy gives this letter to the lady and it was from the mommy and she wrote it in her last days of cancer. She knew her husband might find a wife and her daughter might get a 2nd mommy. It was one of those bitter sweet endings. The mommy wrote specifically to this new lady how to love, care and encourage her husband and daughter. Original parents just know what’s needed with their kids.

So today I’m writing a note to God. A note I should have written before you had left to Heaven.

“Dear God, I know you made Jessie and know every thing about her but as her earthly daddy I would like to tell you about her. She is scared about going to Heaven so please reminder her it’s just a “wink” until she sees us again. She is excited to see Kobi & Bruin and take care of them until we get there. She loves doggies. Please let her know we will take great care of Moe and love him daily. God, Jessie loves physical touch and quality time. She is one of those kids that loves to cuddle. Jessie also loves to hold hands and give hugs. Can you please ask Jesus to help out in this area? Tell him she loves to “pinky hug” too. One of her favorite things to do is laugh so make sure there are plenty of good funny movies and a time for her to “people watch”. She loves music, dancing and drawing too. I’m sure there is a big shopping mall in Heaven so please make sure Jessie goes regularly. She loves to shop. She won’t spend much, she just likes to see all the new fashions. Jessie also likes sweets so make sure there are some available to her. Maybe after she swims laps she can get them as a reward. She loves swimming but not running so please just let her do the things she loves. One of her coaches, Fran Crippen, is there and Jessie really wanted to see him so please make sure they meet up soon. This will help Jessie feel she knows someone. I know the Bible says there is no fear, danger, worry, sadness or anger in Heaven so Jessie won’t have to worry about anything. Lastly, if you allow her to peak through the clouds and see us please make sure it’s not when I’m writing these. I cry so hard and I don’t want her seeing me like this. God, thanks for allowing me to know Jessie and love her for 12 years. Just like that movie, I know Jessie is Safe in “Heaven” with you!”

Jess, I miss you so much, love you tons more…see you in a wink. I promise!!!

xoxo,
daddy
