My Jessie Journal:: Ring, Ring, Ring….Hello?
“Hi daddy, it’s Jessie.”
Hi Sweet Pea, is everything ok?
“Everything is great daddy. I just wanted to call you as 2016 starts. I know it’s been four years since I’ve been away on my mission trip so I just wanted to call and tell you I LOVE YOU.”
I love you to Sweet Pea. I can’t believe it has been four years. I loved how you referred “going to Heaven” as being on a Mission Trip. In some ways, I think your 12 years on earth was your “mission trip” and now you are back home. It’s clear after seeing the impact you are making locally, nationally and globally you were born with a mission to spread hope, joy and love to children fighting cancer.
“That is a great way to think about it daddy. I like how Maggie’s daddy says it…No Pain Is Pointless. Maggie is my new little friend that join us a few months ago…she is just a few years old and had DIPG like me. Like you, her daddy is super strong and helping others.”
WOW! What an interesting statement Jess. “No pain is pointless”. That means there is a purpose to pain. Very thought provoking. I think of when I use to tell you…don’t touch the stove it’s hot. If you had touched it, that “pain” would have taught you a lesson so it wouldn’t have been pointless. But thinking of the pain you went through at such a young age and all of the pain we still live with…hard to swallow some days that it all was for a “purpose”. One of those things we have to trust God with….even when we don’t understand it.
“I understand daddy. I know it can be hard to fully grasp but I hope you will embrace it and let it sink in. I think it will help you all heal.”
I know Jess. I know. It’s just hard someday to accept because I miss you so dang much. I was watching American Idol last night and a guy that was trying out lost is little brother many years ago and he said… “It feels like yesterday”.
“I loved American Idol…we loved watching it as a family.”
We sure did Jess!
“Daddy?”
Yes, Jess.
“Please tell Mommy, Shaya and JT I love and miss them so much. I think of you all each day. I tell all of my new friends about you all.”
I sure will Sweet Pea…I have this picture as my screen saver on my computer…it reminds me daily that we will forever be a family of 5! We all love and think of you daily too Jess!
