My Jessie Journal:: Hi Sweet Pea, it’s daddy! This week has been like a stroll down memory lane. Sure it was hard to think about things and see pictures but I always leave those moments so proud of you.

It all started on Wednesday when a two ladies went to your old elementary school, Melinda Heights, and shared your story with each class. The school is doing a JoyDrive next week so the teachers wanted the students to learn more about you. The kids in 6th grade now were in 1st grade when you got diagnosed with cancer so many of the families have never heard about you, JoyJars or NEGU.

While the ladies were sharing we started getting texts of pictures of you that were on teachers walls. This is where the “stroll” starts. Text after text pictures came. It was crazy to see them and think teachers had them on their desks or bulletin boards. Look at this one…your smile…always so big and bright. Miss it so much!!!!

Then yesterday, one of your 1st grade class mates Julia came with her mom to stuff JoyJars. She is now a senior in HS and heading off to college soon. I showed her a picture of your 12th bday party and she smiled seeing you and her together. Then her mom said something that made me so proud….” Julia met Jessie in 1st grade. I remember Julia being nervous and seeing this little blonde girl come over grab her hand and let her sit by her…that was they day they become friends.”

I had no idea that ever took place but I’m so proud of you. You always had this special radar that could detect people not doing great, a little nervous or just needing a friend. Obviously that is why JoyJars started because you had some burden for the other kids that couldn’t leave the hospital. The world would be such a better place of more people had those skills.

The other thing that I was reminded about this week was during the TV show NCIS LA. You used to watch the original show NCIS with us. This is just a version that is in LA. One of the main guys lost his wife during the show to a gun shot. As he stood over her body in the morgue he said…”My life will never be the same without her.” Sure this was all just part of a TV show but…water drops rolled off my cheeks hearing him say that. My life will never be the same without YOU…some days I just want this nightmare to stop. I guess it will when I see you in Heaven…that will be the best day EVER!

Miss you tons….love you more…see you in a wink! Promise!

xoxo,
daddy
