My Jessie Journal: Hi Sweet Pea…it’s daddy and it’s Thanksgiving. They say this day is about “giving thanks”. I find it hard to truly “give” thanks when I’m NOT thankful at all that you are in Heaven. I’m not thankful for cancer or what it did to you or our family. I’m not thankful that we see an empty chair every night when we eat dinner. I’m not thankful that Mommy, Shaya and JT cry because they miss you.

HOWEVER, I will choose to “give” thanks to YOU today!

I’m thankful I got to be your earthly daddy
I’m thankful I got to call you my daughter
I’m thankful I got to hold you when you were born
I’m thankful I got to teach you to ride your bike
I’m thankful I got to tell you about Jesus
I’m thankful I got to baptize you
I’m thankful I got to cheer you on as a swimmer
I’m thankful I got to sing “happy birthday” to you 12 times
I’m thankful I got to kiss you good-night for 12 years
I’m thankful I got to give you big squeezes for 12 years
I’m thankful I got to hold you hand for 12 years
I’m thankful I got to comfort you when you learned you had cancer
I’m thankful I got to be with you and mommy as you went through treatment
I’m thankful I got to talk to you about Heaven even though I was scared
I’m thankful I got to stuff JoyJars with you in the garage
I’m thankful I got to deliver JoyJars with you
I’m thankful you thought of NEGU as your motto…because it’s mine now!
