My Jessie Journal:: Hi Sweet Pea, it’s daddy! Like you didn’t know that…lol. I miss you so much….this was a picture from your first trip to the radiation center exactly 5 years ago…dang cancer sucks! I still feel like it was yesterday. People say “time heals”….I’m not sure about that…maybe I don’t want time to heal. I don’t know…I just know I miss you and I hate not having you in my life physically.
While I can’t have that…I can be inspired by you emotionally everyday. This week has been full of that…all because of YOU!
First, mommy and I get a call to receive a special award on your behalf by a charity that recognizes kids that help kids. They feel you are an amazing girl who will inspire their followers to be more selfless. That is so cool.
Second, on Tuesday I met four people who came all the way from the east coast just to see the JoyFactory and make JoyJars. That is so amazing. Two of them were from New York and the other from Virginia. Their eyes filled with tears as they talk about you and your legacy.
Third, I got an email from a young lady who followed you from the start. You inspired her to become a childhood oncology nurse 5 years ago and she will graduate in May. WOW! She even invited me to come to her graduation but it’s way far away.
Fourth, your NEGU PowerPacks made it all the way to kids fighting cancer in Egypt. No way! When I saw the pics I just cried.
Fifth, I got to meet this amazing little boy from Tampa named James. He and his parents were here on their NEGU Adventure. Those are those one of a kind Southern Cal trips we grant to kids. They visited the JoyFactory on Tuesday and he got to make his very own JoyJar. When we told him his face just smiled so big. You should have seen him stuff it with all the toys he wanted and then try as hard as his body could to place the lid on. I felt myself holding back tears as he smiled and loved everything. Because of you…he smiled!
I know you never wanted any of this to be about you…but because of YOU…all of this is happening.
Keep asking the Big Guy to send me lots of wisdom and strength so I can make the most out of all you inspired. Raising funds is super hard but I will keep asking people to consider investing $20 in your foundation so we can create more smiles. You and all of the kids are my motivation. Curing bad days is so addicting!
I just LOVE being known as “Jessie’s Daddy”…my inspiration!
