Hi Sweet Pea…it’s daddy!
I was thinking back to August 2011 and thought about our wonderful trip to Kona with the family. It was during the “honeymoon” period of your treatment. I really don’t know why they call it the honeymoon when it’s followed by pure chaos, pain and eventually loss. We called it the “memory maker” time. It was all about making memories with you. Everything we did for those few months were all about creating moments so we could capture memories. That’s all we have is memories but I’m grateful we have some good ones. Ones of you smiling, laughing, being silly and giving your amazing hugs!
I love this picture of us in the pool…you always loved the water and working on your tan. Boy could you tan with the best of them=) You always had a wonderful tan and when you add in your blue eyes, blonde hair and smile you were so stunning. What I always loved about your beauty was how you down played it and never took it for granted. You never were one to bring attention to yourself…and now I bet 100,000+ people have heard your name, your story, your NEGU motto and your wonderful JoyJars. So crazy…the one that wanted no spot-light is in the spot-light now…but only because you wanted to spread hope, joy and love to all of the other kids fighting.
I’m starting my new weekly Joy Drop column today. Kind of nervous about them and just want people to enjoy them. I’m sure they will but we all live with some level of insecurities. I know I have my fair share. I’ll have to follow our family motto…”always do your best and let God handle the rest”…when I write them. It always keeps things in perspective for me. I know you lived by it everyday you fought cancer.
I love you Sweet Pea and want to bad to see you, hold you, talk with you and kiss you. Those are the things I miss so much…seeing you, holding you, talking with you and giving your silly kisses.
Miss you tons…love you more…see you in a wink! I promise!!!
xoxo,
Daddy
