My Jessie Journal:: Hi Sweet Pea…it’s daddy! I miss you so much. It’s been one of those rollercoaster weeks. The down turn was meeting with a young family that has a little girl with you. She just joined you a few weeks ago. While I’m glad I get to meet with families and talk…seeing the pain in their eyes and the grief engulfing their bodies it just took me to a hard spot. The father couldn’t even talk…all he said was “why my daughter?” I totally get being super upset, confused and wanting to hit the world as hard as I could. I could feel the father wanting the same. I just prayed for him. That’s simply all I could do. I also gave him my cell and let him know I’m always here for him and his family.

The highlight of my week is today….I’m actually writing from my hotel room in my hometown of Portland Oregon. We have made our annual trip up to Nike for the Elite 11 QB competition. I always love coming “home” and being part of this great event. We will be bringing courageous kids out to Nike today to have fun with the top high school QB’s in the country and a bunch of college and professional football players. I shared last night about you and how you started it all during the closing session. I could tell some of the QB’s “got it” and wanted be part of helping kids fighting cancer NEGU in their home town. All the QB’s made great JoyJars for the kids that are coming out today to meet them. One of the best parts of this event is for two hours the kids won’t think about fighting cancer and won’t feel lonely or left out. That is a great thing!!!

Thanks for leaving me a mission Jess! It gets me out of bed everyday and I’m so thankful for that. Off to cure some bad days and help kids smile!

xoxo
