Holly is a Courageous 10-year-old who has been fighting cancer for more than 2 years. She was diagnosed with rhabdomyosarcoma in 2015, where she had 10 months of extremely difficult treatment followed by 6 months of being NED (no evidence of disease). Her family got the news that Holly’s tumor started growing again in January of 2017, and after 6 more months of receiving treatment, the chemotherapy started to no longer work.
Her mom, Heidi says, “a recent second round of radiation has slowed the tumor growth and has given Holly the chance to continue to find joy in living. She plays soccer, piano and ukulele, loves to dance and only misses school when she is too sick to get off the couch. She inspires those around her with her ability to Never Ever Give Up!!”
Two years ago, Holly received one of her first JoyJars during her first week in the hospital. Her mom says, they loved the thought and care that went into the JoyJars. Holly also visited Nike’s Elite 11 camp with the Jessie Rees Foundation this year, where she got to meet with amazing quarterback athletes from around the country and be encouraged to NEGU! Heidi says, “we were so touched by the love that was shown to our sweet Holly.”
