Elijah is 15 years old. He loves soccer. His favorite team is Real Madrid. He has a twin sister, Eden. He’s the middle child of 6 kids. He was diagnosed with osteosarcoma of his right Humerus the week after Christmas 2016 and started chemotherapy a week later.
Elijah had to have his humerus bone removed and his shoulder and arm socket. He is still undergoing chemotherapy 3 weeks every month. All of his treatments require him to be admitted to the hospital.
Claire, Courageous Elijah’s mom says…
“Elijah is 15, he should be playing soccer with his friends and going to school and enjoying being a teenager. Instead he is spending 90 percent of the last 5 months of his life in the hospital receiving chemotherapy for Osteosarcoma. I can say in all honesty my son is the strongest person I have ever met. When Elijah was taken in for surgery to remove the tumor we didn’t know if they were going to amputate his arm or try and salvage it with a prosthetic he looked at me and said “I’m scared” for the first time and last time in this journey. Brave isn’t a strong enough word for my son. He will never ever give up. He works on improving the function in his arm daily. He is still the best big brother to his little brothers. He is still making jokes and laughing with his sisters. He is still the best friend you could have. He is not letting cancer rob him of his joy and love for life. He won’t give up, and neither will we!”
