The children in treatment at Children’s Hospital of Michigan had no idea that they would be waking up to a special surprise last Thursday morning. But sure enough, Kaitlin Sandeno, National Spokesperson for the Jessie Rees Foundation arrived to the pediatric floor bright and early with special gifts of Joy from Jessie’s Joy Factory–JoyJars!!
Over 260 kids at Children’s Hospital of Michigan received one of Jessie’s JoyJars along with her special message, NEGU- Never Ever Give Up. During her 10-month fight with cancer, Jessie wanted to help kids fighting cancer and kids in hospitals. She founded JoyJars as a way to share joy and encouragement with her peers who were fighting hard just like her. She knew cancer could make a child feel limited, and wanted kids to know that they were not alone. Before earning her wings in January 2012, Jessie had personally stuffed and sent over 3,000 JoyJars for kids battling cancer.
Jessie’s JoyJars are filled to the rim with hospital-approved, age-appropriate toys. All toys are donated from our amazing supporters. To-date, over 50,000 kids battling cancer around the world have received Jessie’s JoyJars.
A big thank you to the staff, kids and families at Children’s Hospital of Michigan for allowing us this opportunity to continue to share Jessie’s message of encouragement. Visit the Children’s Hospital of Michigan’s website for more information about this special visit with some amazing kids.
