Pediatric Cancer Hospitals

US News just released their list of the 50 top-ranked pediatric cancer centers. Three-year survival, transplant accreditation and infection prevention were among the factors making up 75 percent of the score, based mostly on data from a U.S. News survey of children’s hospitals. The other 25 percent reflects how many of 450 pediatric cancer specialists surveyed in 2011, 2012 and 2013 recommended the hospital. Us News hopes the rankings can be a tool for families and others in search of an unusually high caliber of care due to a child’s challenging medical needs. The 50 top-scoring hospitals are displayed in each specialty. Many of the measures that went into hospital scores, such as reputation, are common to all of the specialties, while others, such as accreditation for bone marrow transplant, are specialty-specific. For the 2013-14 rankings, U.S. News requested medical data and other information from 179 facilities; 110 turned in enough data to be evaluated.

Here are the top ten from their list of 50. For the complete list of the 50 top ranked pediatric cancer centers and their individual score cards, visit US News.
