An article was recently published on the LA Times website, Living Near Traffic Linked to Increased Cancer Risk in Children, discussing evidence that suggests that traffic exposure may increase a child’s risk for developing certain childhood cancers.
According to the article, researchers from USC, UCLA and UC Irvine showed a possible correlation between high pollution areas (from traffic) and higher incidences of certain childhood cancers.
The article emphasized that the results of this study were preliminary and more research would be required to confirm any links between traffic exposure and childhood cancers.
