Gabby was only 22 months old when diagnosed with Stage 4 Neuroblastoma – an extremely rare cancer that makes up about 6% of all pediatric cancer diagnoses. She was taken into her pediatrician due to a firm spot that her daycare teachers informed her parents about. It wasn’t visible and it wasn’t very large, but it was right where her liver should be.

They found out Gabby had some sort of tumor on November 29th, 2018 and she was formally diagnosed with stage 4 High Risk Neuroblastoma on December 7th, 2018. Because Gabby was diagnosed older than 18 months old, and because the cancer had already spread throughout her body, her cancer is considered “high-risk”.

Gabby has made it through 3 rounds of chemotherapy and hasn’t lost her spunk. She is quick to smile and help out her nurses whenever she gets a chance. They always comment on how smart she is and how amazing she is at doing vitals. She loves helping to put on the blood pressure cuff and the oxygen sensor, and sits still during all her bandage/cap changes. She truly is an amazing girl!

Despite her diagnosis, sweet little two year old Gabby has shown her strength, she is resilient, and tough, and has kept her beautiful smile shining throughout this difficult time. She is so incredibly intelligent and observant. She is very shy, but when she opens up, she is so playful. She always has a smile on her face and is always ready to laugh and play. Gabby loves playing with her dolls, and her dogs. She also likes to see the animals at the San Diego Wild Animal Park.

Her dad Frank says that to him, NEGU means, “To me, it means that even when things seem to be at their darkest, keep going because there is always hope. Never surrender and always believe that there will be light once again.” He said, “We are new to the Jessie Rees Foundation. I can tell you that when I found it while searching to do anything in my power that can brighten my daughters day, the message is a powerful one to me. Its something I truly live by these days. I have a little girl that relies on me, and the statistics are pretty terrible for Neuroblastoma. I will Never, Ever Give Up on helping her defeat this monster. I will be by her side through it all and support her in anyway possible, no matter what the odds. That is what I believe myself and NEGU have in common, that general idea of never giving up.”
