16-year-old Jamea’s journey with Hodgkin Lymphoma started out as a shock to not only her but the entire family. It was the time of year for her to get her sports physical when the journey began. Hodgkin Lymphoma is cancer of the part of the immune system called the lymphatic system.

Despite her diagnosis, Jamea continues to loves art, both drawing and painting, she also playing acoustic guitar and watching movies( animation, action and TV shows). She also enjoys playing sports – Tennis, Softball and Volleyball!

Jamea is a fun loving caring young lady. She is always looking for ways to help others and making them smile. “Never ever give up means so much to our family because the love and support we show one another we cannot stop fighting! She has already mentioned using this bump in the road as testimony to help others fighting through the same diagnosis.”

In her CaringBridge site, Jamea writes, “Not only does having cancer suck but negative feelings can come and take over as well. But through the loving support of friends, family and doctor’s you will be given many reasons to continue to fight.”

Jamea has received JoyJars in the mail and was chosen as a recipient of $1,000 during the Jessie Rees Foundation 25 Days of Love! Her mom told us, “The Joyjar made her feel good to see that others are showing care to children in her situation and lifted her spirits.”
