My Jessie Journal:: Hi Sweet Pea, it’s daddy! I love the first word I start every Thursday with “MY”. Because you are MY daughter and you have impacted MY life is so many ways. I’m the only one on earth that got to be your daddy so I love the word “my”. I know it may sound boastful but you are…and of course you are Mommies daughter too=))). She loves and misses you a ton too. We all do!
This week has been emotionally challenging for me because on Saturday I turn 48 years old. That means I was 43 when all of this happened. I saw a someone a few weeks ago for the first time in 10 years and he even commented on how much “older” I look. Cancer has definitely aged me. I wish I looked like I did in this selfie we took=))). Thankfully I feel super young a heart and LOVE helping kids fighting cancer smile and feel special. That will never change!
We enough about me….How are you? I so wish you could answer that question! It’s only three words but I just will never know this side of Heaven how you truly are doing. I think about it a ton. Sometimes it makes me feel super hopeful and sometimes I get worried…that is when I just need to find ways deep inside my soul to trust there is a bigger plan to all of this.
On a much brighter note, our Mobile JoyFactory stopped last week at the headquarters of this amazing company last week. It was so incredible to watch these compassionate employees stuff 15,000 of your Winter Wonderful JoyJars that will start going out to kids and families this month. I’m super thankful for their support and the opportunity to our very first boost of joy for families. You would love this one so much…it’s full of games and activities for families to spend time together. You loved spending time together as a family so we thought one of your JoyJars stuffed for families would be a great addition=). These JoyJars will go to kids locally, nationally and as far as Ireland. WOW! That will put us over 150,000 boosts of joy stuffed and sent by the end of the year. WOW!
We are already working on next years “Summer Fun” JoyJars. There are going to be a fun “beach” theme and will create tons of smiles! The Mobile JoyFactory is headed to Dallas and Atlanta in a few weeks to team up with another compassionate corporation. It’s so fun to see companies engaging their employees, having tons of fun and helping us spread JOY to courageous kids!
I’m so thankful for last night. A local high school dance team created a fall performance called Dancing for Joy and raised funds for you Jess. They were REALLY good and I got to speak to the audience and share your story. It was hard as you would be 17 and a senior in HS like many of the girls that danced. What was so great is your dear friend Sophia goes to the school and she came to watch the performance. You two were BFF’s…unfortunately the “forever” didn’t last long.
Well I got to get ready for work and try to get the gray out of my hair…LOL!
Love you to the moon and back Jess!
xoxo,
daddy
