To kick-off the NHL’s #HockeyFightsCancer campaign, volunteers from the Sharks Foundation teamed up with the Jessie Rees Foundation to stuff 500 of Jessie’s JoyJars® full of toys, games and San Jose Sharks items at Solar4America Ice. Volunteers began the day by filling JoyJars with items such as playing cards, sunglasses, bandanas and even San Jose Sharks items to send to Courageous Kids fighting cancer around the world.
Later that day, with the help of Shark’s defenseman Dylan DeMelo and Sharks forward Matt Nieto, JoyJars were delivered to Courageous Kids at Kaiser Permanente Santa Clara Medical Center. Kids fighting cancer in hospitals can feel so lonely and limited – but bringing them JoyJars, encouraging them to Never Ever Give Up and loving on them is the best!! Especially when you get to do it ‘Special Adventure-Style’ with Matt Nieto and Dylan DeMelo of the San Jose Sharks. The kids were so excited!!
