Are you one who sets New Year’s resolutions? Have you set your goals for 2016? Maybe you are someone who “goes with the flow” rather than setting goals. No matter what, please keep reading and consider embracing three goals that will make 2016 a great year for you!
- Laugh Constantly – I recently saw this quote online, “Your sense of humor is one of the most powerful tools you have to make certain that your daily mood and emotional state support good health.” -Paul E. McGhee, Ph.D.
So the old statement, “laughter is great medicine” is true! While I’m not one full of humor, I have learned from my son JT that laughing is a great cure for stress. JT is so full of laughter. His laughter is infectious. The sound of him laughing is contagious and can turn any bad day into a great day. While he is too young to know this, his laughter improves his health…specifically it strengthens his immune system, boosts his energy and increases his JOY. The best part of laughter is that it is free and fun. I hope you choose the laugh a little more in 2016.
- Love Compassionately – I’ve learned, firsthand, that giving is way better than receiving. This wasn’t always the way I embraced life, but after watching Jessie fight cancer and choose to love others compassionately, I had to follow her lead. Now, I’m addicted to showing compassion to others I know are hurting and need a good dose of hope in their lives. Who could you love compassionately this week? Give it a go, and watch your JOY increase.
- Live Courageously – Maybe, as you look back on 2015, it is full of pain and disappointment. Maybe you didn’t get the job you wanted or faced relational stress. My encouragement to you is to choose to live life courageously. What is courage? According to Webster, courage is defined as: the ability to do something that you know is difficult or dangerous.
You and I may not be facing any dangerous situations as we look towards 2016, but chances are, we will experience a few difficult ones. When we do, what will we do? We will try to survive or set our intention to thrive. Let’s focus on being courageous in those difficult situations. Let’s not let our past define us…rather let it drive us to make 2016 a great year!
Cheering for you!
NEGU,
