“Hi daddy it’s Jessie.”
Hi Sweet Pea! Is everything ok?
“Yes, daddy. I’m doing good, I’m safe and have lots of new friends.”
That’s great Jess. I just miss you so much.
“I miss you too daddy. I just know you worry about me a ton.”
I know I do. Just my daddy heart missing his Sweet Pea.
“But I’m ok daddy. Heaven is a really great place and someday we will be together again. Remember…in a wink!”
Yes…I remember. Just hard some days.
“How r u daddy?”
I’m ok too. Just got back from a trip where I spoke to lots of families that have children with you due to cancer. It was a “remembrance” conference in Sacramento.
“That’s awesome daddy. I bet you did great.”
Thanks Sweet Pea. I’ve spoken to thousands of people before but that was by far the hardest to do. Grief is hard…so I just shared my story and how I try to NEGU everyday in the race called “life”. I encouraged them to let go of the weight that can slow us down….like guilt, worry and anger. My hope is that we all can “thrive” in life rather than just “survive” it. You “thrived” in 12 short years and held on to hope everyday. You inspired many there and inspire me daily.

“How is the gala going? I dress up with my friends here and celebrate with you all. You know how much l liked getting “dressed-up”.”
Wow! That’s so cool. I didn’t know you did that. Yes, you sure loved fun fashion. The gala is in a few weeks and still trying to get people to attend. I’m confident we will have lots of people there. The theme this year is “A Celebration of Courageous SMILES”. It was all started by one courageous smile (YOU) that has helped thousands of others smile.
“That’s amazing daddy. Sounds so fun.”
It sure will…just will miss not having you there. We all have been “blessed by Jess”=))).
“Silly daddy…that rhymes. Give mommy, JT and Shaya big hugs. I love you all so much. Please tell Uncle T and Aunt Kimmy happy birthday too.”
I sure will. I’ll event post a picture on Facebook of them with Uncle T and Aunt Kimmy.
