Damian is a very shy and sweet 8-year-old who was diagnosed with Leukemia all this year. Leukemia all is a type of cancer of the blood and bone marrow that affects white blood cells. It is the most common childhood cancer, it occurs when a bone marrow cell develops errors in its DNA.
Damian loves Disney’s Coco, arts and crafts and playing the game fortnite. He also likes playing ROBLOX, watching YouTube and being outdoors fishing. Going to the park and watching his best friend and 9 year old brother play soccer is one of his favorite things to do.
Damian is very creative, he likes art and loves to help cook! His mom says, “the more he can do the happier he will be!” She says, “We have come to learn that this is not something easy for families to go through, we know all families have different journeys and it’s encouraging to see how much there is and how much is being done for kids who suffer from illnesses like these. We never want to give up because no parent will ever give up for their child, no matter what we will continue to fight and pray and hope that Damian will have a good speedy recovery.”
When Damian got his JoyJar in the mail as part of the Free Year of JOY program, he was so happy! He got it just in time for his birthday and got to open it the morning of his birthday – “he was so excited. He really felt so special.” Jessie’s wish to encourage every child
Damian’s mom says, the Jessie Rees Foundation has “helped us become stronger emotionally. We know that we are not alone and their is always someone there to lend a hand.” We are so proud of Damian and his strength during his fight, check out his amazing smile!
