Pickleball Tournament Benefits NEGU

August 17, 2023

Pickleball has taken the sports world by storm! Recently, one cancer survivor and supporter of the Jessie Rees Foundation chose NEGU as the beneficiary of their inaugural tournament fundraiser.

More than 200 participants showed up to play pickleball and support Courageous Kids fighting cancer at Felipe Rec Center in Mission Viejo. It was a fun-filled and full day of Pickleball. The day featured welcome gifts for each attendee, a 28-item raffle, fruit sponsored by Albertson’s and lunch sponsored by Jersey Mike’s and Chick-fil-A, stretches from the Stretch Lab, and even an awards ceremony with NEGU prizes and medals for the top finishers!

One attendee said, “It was the best fundraiser tournament I have ever been to- there was something really sweet and magical about it.  A Monarch butterfly kept circling our court, and it felt like Jessie’s spirit was there in celebration of everyone supporting her.”

Jessie’s daddy Erik shared her inspiring story with the hundreds of participants. We are thankful to report that this awesome event raised over $16,000 to send JoyJars to 650 Courageous Kids fighting cancer where they will be encouraged to Never Ever Give Up!
