TeamNDM’s Commitment to Children Fighting Cancer Starts at the Top
October 16, 2020
Meet Dan Upton, the CEO of Nations Direct Mortgage. Initially, Dan got connected with the Jessie Rees Foundation when he learned about us through his wife who had the chance to partner with our foundation through the National Charity League. After learning more about Jessie’s mission and getting connected with Erik, he learned that this foundation is exactly who he was searching to partner with. Fast forward 5 consecutive years, and we are so grateful for Dan and the rest of his Compassionate Company that has been a faithful and dedicated partner to the Jessie Rees Foundation!
Getting connected with nonprofits and giving back isn’t something unfamiliar to Dan, it is something he has always been focused on in his leadership roles. “It’s not only good for the community, but it’s also good for the associates. It allows them to be an actual part of the community versus just being a business in the community,” said Dan.
What inspires him to learn more about the Jessie Rees Foundation’s mission is the unique way that we allow associates to use their hands to participate, create an impact, and encourage kids fighting cancer. Once he learned about that, he knew he wanted his team to be a part of it! As a company, Nations Direct Mortgage isn’t only involved, they also ask their vendors to participate and join in on supporting our foundation in whatever way they can!
One of Dan’s favorite memories from partnering with TeamNEGU is the first time he stuffed JoyJars with his associates! He learned more about Jessie’s story from Jessie’s Daddy Erik, as well as the impact created for kids fighting cancer.
“Something I would want other CEOs to know is the importance of not get caught up in the day to day. Get your associates engaged with creating an impact in their community. It helps them feel more like a part of their community,” shared Dan.
Thank you, Dan, and the rest of the Nations Direct Mortgage team, for your commitment and passion to pour into Jessie’s mission and to encourage kids fighting cancer to NEGU! It takes a village to achieve Jessie’s wish, and we are thankful your company is a part of our “village.”
