Mason just turned 3 and has been battling neuroblastoma since January. He has had 5 rounds of chemo, tumor resection, high dose chemo, and a stem cell transplant. Mason is currently getting radiation and after that will have six cycles of immunotherapy. He has been admitted for numerous fevers, had an NG tube, more pokes than his family can count and so many clinic visits. Mason has been so brave and strong throughout his journey. His mom, Melissa says, “Mason is the strongest person I know. He was diagnosed with high risk, stage IV, neuroblastoma in January and has been fighting ever since. He has had 5 rounds of chemo, a tumor resection, a 12 hour pheresis, high dose chemo, and a stem cell transplant. Currently he is getting radiation and after that will have six cycles of immunotherapy. He has been admitted for numerous fevers, had an NG tube, more pokes, scans, x-rays and clinic visits than we can count. He has been so brave and strong throughout all of this. I am so happy to say that MASON IS CANCER FREE!! We were told in May that he is NED!!” Mason loves cooking on his kitchen set and his grill – and loves helping his mom bake cookies and brownies! Mason really likes to play games outside and drive his little car around. Melissa says that Mason’s ‘beat cancer’ song is Bob Marley’s “Three Little Birds”.
She says, “Mason is such a sweet little boy. Given all that he endures on a daily basis he is incredibly empathetic. He always wants to make sure everyone around him is okay. I’ve never met a stronger, more courageous person in my life. Through all of the pain, trials, and tribulations Mason smiles that most perfect smile. He laughs his infectious laugh. He brightens any room he walks into. He enjoys life like no other. I look up to him in so many ways. When I think i cannot handle anymore I look at him and all that he has endured in his life and he gives me hope. Not once has he given up. He has a fire inside him that will not burn out. Mason has a heart of gold and so much love. He truly is our hero and our inspiration.”
