Nine year old Dalton has been such a fighter even before he was diagnosed with Ewing Sarcoma. He pushed through major pain in his leg until one day a teacher noticed the pain showing in his face while at school.

Since then, Dalton has endured many surgeries along his journey – multiple venipuncture pokes in his arms, multiple pokes to his mediport, chemotherapy treatments, limb salvage surgery on his knee and tibia, sick admissions to the hospital, and all of this without a great deal of fuss. He is so strong.

Dalton has become his own advocate in his care. He simply amazes his parents every single day with his strength and courage. Just like many kids his age, he loves playing baseball, riding a bike, swimming, crafting with recyclable things, paracord bracelet making, telling jokes, watching science experiments or crafting YouTube videos.

The Jessie Rees Foundation has put smiles on Dalton’s face with monthly mail. Dalton’s mom says, “His JoyJars always have something in them that fit his personality just right, from pop emoji socks, to whoopi cushions and personal ear buds for his electronic devices. Smiles are always welcomed in our family on this cancer journey.”

Dalton’s first JoyJar arrived  the night before a limb salvage surgery that the Ronald McDonald House gave to him. “It was such a great distraction for all of us to go through it instead of worrying about the upcoming morning.”

His mom said, the “Jessie Rees Foundation has given our family hope and encouragment. I love getting the emails asking how we are doing. Sometimes our personal friends and community depend on our caring bridge site for details and forget to just check on us to see how things are going. Your foundation takes the time to just check in without even knowing us personally. Thank you for that.”

We are so thankful to encourage Dalton and other kids fighting cancer to Never Ever Give Up!
